Notes on the cameras used in Far From

A timeline of the cameras that I have used to create the photography in Far From:
Rolleiflex 3.5f Planar (Film) - USA (2024) My favourite film camera – used during my artists residency at the Montello Foundation in Nevada and at Ghost Ranch, USA.
Fuji GFX 100S - Senegal, England (2024-present). Nicer to use than the GFX 50R, but not as good at handling extreme heat.
iphone 12 - USA (2024) I used my iphone as I didn’t want to carry a big camera for my hike of the Colorado trail. The images are a little clinical but can be improved with some post production in Capture One/Photoshop.
Fuji GFX 50R - The Sudan, Algeria, Senegal, England, Scotland (2021-present). My most consistently carried camera. Light for the image quality it provides. I used the 110mm lens in the Sudan, which on reflection was too long. Since the Sudan most images have been taken using the 45mm. I wrote about using this camera for Fujilove Magazine in 2021.
Nikon Z7 - Tibet, Scotland, (2019) - Used with a zoom lens. The quality still holds up when I look back at the images.
Leica M6 (35mm Film) - Islay, Scotland (2018) - Elegant in every way: my favourite 35mm film camera.
Leica Q - Morocco (2018) - An elegant camera with pleasing image quality. Fixed lens a little limiting.
Ricoh GR (35mm Film) - Greenland (2010) Image quality good, but has the dubious honour of being the only camera that has broken while I have been in the field.
Note: I have no affiliation with any of the above camera brands.
